The WattWise Method

Three ways to save. One simple plan.

Most people overpay because they only think about one lever. We work all three — and we start you on the easiest one first.

Way 02

Use Less

Once you're paying a fair rate, we help you cut waste — the low-effort efficiency moves and habits that quietly shrink your monthly usage.

Learn how
Way 03

Use Smarter

Shift when and how you use energy to match the best rates and programs — plus rebates and incentives most residents never hear about.

Learn how
Way 01 · Pay Less · Built for New Jersey

Pay less for the same power.

Same electricity, lower price. In New Jersey you have real options to cut the supply side of your bill — this is the easiest place to start, and where we begin with every customer.

Save 15%+ · no panels

Community Solar

Subscribe to a share of a local solar farm — no rooftop panels, no equipment, nothing installed at your home. Your share shows up as credits on your regular bill, and you pay less than the credits are worth. Renters welcome.

New Jersey guarantees at least 15% off your solar credits — live and enrolling now.
Free to switch

Shop your supply (Energy Choice)

New Jersey is deregulated, so you can buy the supply half of your bill from a licensed supplier instead of the utility default. The trick is discipline: only switch to a fixed rate that beats the "Price to Compare" printed on your bill.

Real savings come from locking a rate below the utility's — exactly what we check for you.
Free

Lock in a fixed rate

Default and variable rates drift, and can spike hard in peak season. Locking a fixed supply rate freezes your price for the term — budget certainty and no nasty winter surprises.

Protection from variable-rate spikes — we make sure any lock beats your Price to Compare.
Auto-enroll · opt-out

Your town's bulk rate

Many New Jersey towns bid out their residents' electric supply in bulk to win a better rate (Government Energy Aggregation). If yours runs a program, you may already be enrolled — and can opt out anytime.

Group buying power; savings depend on the town's contract. We'll check if yours has one.
Coming to NJ

Home battery & storage

New Jersey is rolling out incentives for home batteries — store cheaper power to lean on at peak, and keep the lights on during outages. The residential program is on the way, and we're watching it closely.

Not open to homeowners yet — we'll tell you the moment it is, and whether it fits your home.

Way 02 · Use Less

Now you're paying less — let's use less.

Proven moves that shrink how much energy your home uses. Most are free or nearly free. Figures below are from the U.S. Dept. of Energy and ENERGY STAR.

Free · Low

Dial in heating & cooling

It's nearly half your energy bill — over $900/yr for the average home. Set your thermostat back 7–10° while you sleep or are away, or let a smart thermostat do it automatically.

~10%/yr on heating & cooling (DOE); a smart thermostat ≈ $50/yr (ENERGY STAR).
Low cost

Switch to LED bulbs

Swap your most-used bulbs for ENERGY STAR LEDs. They use at least 75% less electricity and last up to 25× longer, so you buy far fewer bulbs too.

About $40/yr by upgrading your 5 most-used fixtures (ENERGY STAR).
Free

Wash clothes in cold water

Almost all the energy a washer uses goes to heating water, not running the machine. The cold setting cleans most everyday loads just as well.

~90% of a wash cycle's energy is water heating (ENERGY STAR).
Free

Set your water heater to 120°F

Water heating is often the second-largest energy expense in a home, and many tanks ship set hotter than needed. 120°F saves energy and lowers scald risk.

Saves ~15% of water-heating energy — about $40–90/yr on an electric tank (DOE / FTC).
Free

Unplug the energy vampires

TVs, game consoles, chargers and computers draw power even when they're off. Put clusters on a switchable power strip and cut them off when not in use.

Standby loads are 5–10% of home electricity — as much as $100/yr (DOE).
Free

Cool with ceiling fans

Fans cool people, not rooms. Running one lets you raise the AC about 4° with no change in comfort — just switch it off when you leave the room.

A ceiling fan lets you raise the thermostat ~4°F with no loss of comfort (DOE).
Free

Set it and leave it: 68° / 78°

Pick a baseline — 68°F in winter, 78°F in summer — and stop nudging it. Every override erases the savings your schedule was making.

Standard DOE / ENERGY STAR targets; pair with an 8°F setback while you're away.
Low cost

Change your HVAC filter

A clogged filter makes your system work harder for the same comfort. Check it monthly in peak season, change it about every 3 months, and get an annual tune-up.

Cuts AC energy use ~5–15% (DOE) — and extends equipment life.
Bigger project

Seal & insulate

Seal leaks around windows, doors and attic penetrations, then top up attic insulation. Caulk and weatherstripping often pay back in under a year.

~15% on heating & cooling, ~11% of total energy (EPA / ENERGY STAR).

These are national averages — your real dollars depend on local rates, your climate, and whether you heat with electricity or gas (cold-water laundry and water-heater savings are largest in all-electric homes). From your bill, we pinpoint the moves that matter most for your home. Sources: energy.gov, energystar.gov, FTC.

Way 03 · Use Smarter · Built for New Jersey

Same energy — smarter timing.

These are the real PSE&G programs and timing moves that put money back in your pocket. On JCP&L, Atlantic City Electric, or Rockland Electric? The playbook's the same — we match you to your utility's version.

Enroll · free

Switch to Time-of-Use

Move off PSE&G's flat rate to the Time-of-Use rate: cheaper overnight (12–6 a.m.) and midday, pricier weekday evenings (4–9 p.m.). It's the master switch — nothing else about timing pays off until your rate varies by hour.

12-month bill-protection guarantee — if you don't beat the flat rate, PSE&G credits the difference.
Free to do

Shift big loads off peak

Once you're on Time-of-Use, run the big machines outside the 4–9 p.m. weekday peak. Weekends and holidays have no peak hours at all, so Saturday laundry is a free-for-all.

Focus on the loads that matter: laundry, dryer, dishwasher, pool pump, EV.
Free · ~20 min

Shop your supply rate

New Jersey is deregulated, so you can shop the supply half of your bill. Check the "Price to Compare" on your PSE&G statement, then only switch to a fixed offer that beats it — and steer clear of teaser variable rates.

Recent fixed offers ran ~2¢/kWh under PSE&G's supply rate — about 11% off. This is our specialty.
Rebated · nearly free

Near-free smart thermostat

PSE&G discounts ENERGY STAR smart thermostats right at checkout, so the hardware is nearly free — and it's what makes the scheduling and pre-cooling moves automatic.

PSE&G rebate up to $100 — some models land near $40 after the instant discount; ~$50/yr saved.
Enroll · get paid

Get paid on peak days

Let PSE&G ease your usage on a handful of peak-demand days and they pay you. FlexPower nudges your smart thermostat automatically; SmartFlex pays you to cut back manually — great for renters.

FlexPower pays up to $75/yr; SmartFlex pays $1.25 per kWh you cut — no device needed.
Free

Pre-cool before the peak

Cool the house during the cheaper midday hours, then coast with a higher setpoint from 4–9 p.m. You buy the same comfort with cheaper kilowatt-hours — PSE&G recommends this with the TOU rate.

Uses your home's thermal mass as a battery — same comfort, cheaper hours.
Enroll · EV drivers

Charge your EV overnight

Set the car to start charging after midnight so your biggest load lands in the cheapest tier. Separately, PSE&G covers most of the cost of running power to your charger.

Up to $1,500 per charger toward wiring, plus up to $5,000 off utility-side upgrades.
Free assessment

Free home energy assessment

Book PSE&G's free, roughly one-hour Whole Home Energy Assessment. You get quick fixes installed on the spot — and it's the gateway to New Jersey's biggest home-upgrade rebates.

Unlocks up to $6,000 in PSE&G rebates; statewide up to $7,500 + $25,000 in 0% financing.
If you qualify

No-cost upgrades: Comfort Partners

If your household is income-eligible, New Jersey's Comfort Partners program installs efficiency upgrades at no cost to you. Always worth checking before you pay for anything yourself.

Efficiency measures installed free for income-eligible NJ homes.

Heads-up for 2026: the federal 25C / 25D home-energy tax credits ended Dec 31, 2025 — so PSE&G and New Jersey programs are where the savings are now. Program terms, credits, and peak hours are set by PSE&G and change over time, so we confirm what's current and what you qualify for before you enroll.
